Meet the boss: with Infigo Managing Director, Alex Bowell

In the latest episode of our industry’s most exciting and upcoming print podcast, The PrintPod, a forum in which we invite a range of guests to discuss anything and everything to do with the industry, Infigo Head of Global Marketing, Chris Minn, is joined by newly appointed Infigo Managing Director, Alex Bowell.

Overseeing 10 years of change

Whilst being new to the title of Managing Director, officially announced in July 2024, Alex is in fact one of the companies longest serving foot soldiers, having initially joined Infigo as a start-up, with just a handful of employees, to then see us grow to the 50+ person global business we are today.

In fact, Alex recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary, despite the business being only 14 years old itself. So, it would be safe to say that, along with Douglas Gibsons continued leadership as CEO & Founder, the business is in safe hands.

During the session, Alex recalls his initial ‘interview’ with Douglas, and how before joining, he was commuting to a job in London, with an established 500+ company HQ. To then transitioning into the next chapter of his career, based at Infigo’s first UK based offices in Crawley, which at the time had only 6 other people.

In the time since, Alex has no regrets. Largely thanks to the exposure he has been involved with in across all areas of business, he says, as well as the people he has worked with and met along the way. One particular highlight has been watching his colleagues’ families grow outside of the business (as well as his own), all whilst the ‘Infigo family’ also grew, as our momentum in the industry increased.

The three pillars

Having spearheaded our recently launched Infigo-eco sustainability initiative, it is clear during the podcast that Alex is genuinely passionate about creating a genuine, forward-thinking workplace, with a culture that benefits not only our employees, but the industry, too.

This has been achieved by introducing a number of other successful initiatives, such as prioritising a healthy work/life balance for staff by introducing a 4-day working week, which has helped pave the way to gaining official certification as a Great Place to Work®, as well as being recognised as one of the Best Workplaces for Women, Best Workplaces for Wellbeing and Best Workplaces in Tech.

This is only the tip of the iceberg, however, in terms of Infigo’s wellness drive, for staff, the community and the industry, all of which Alex explains during the session.

The EOS framework

During the podcast, Chris asks Alex for more details of the recently adopted Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS) framework (of which his recent appointment as Managing Director coincides), with the structure aiming to achieve even better efficiency and improvements, all from someone with a 360° view of the business.

“EOS is made up of a number of core principles including Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process and Traction and then uses a set of timeless concepts and practical, proven tools to allow you to make strategic, fundamental changes in the business and then track their impact”
