Blog: Infigo Hackathon 2025

Posted on

We’ll be putting our coding skills to the test this week during a two-day Infigo Hackathon, this time taking place on January 15-16 from our Moldova HQ in Chișinău. With our global development team attending either in-person, or remotely, the event is designed to inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and turn creative ideas into real-world solutions.

However, the twist is, that our developers won’t know the problem they will be attempting to solve until the morning of 15 January.

Previous Hackathon events, which have become somewhat of a tradition within Infigo’s in-house technical teams, have seen the inception of countless creative ideas and improvements, many of which having evolved since, such as our powerful in-house reporting engine, Insights, which has become a permanent feature for Infigo users.

So, for those unsure of what exactly takes place during an Infigo Hackathon, we thought we’d share a few of the key activities that our technical wizards will be participating in, with a rough itinerary overview.

Day one

The event will kick-off with a welcome session, where the Hackathon format will be introduced, and participants briefed on the following days objectives. Crucially, the topics for the Hackathon will finally be revealed, encouraging spontaneous creativity.

The participants, who will have decided to either team-up, or go at it solo, will then strategise how to tackle their assigned challenges and then have the rest of the day to work on their projects, supported by mentors who will be available to provide technical assistance.

At 6pm, the teams will down tools and join a progress check-in call, where they will share updates, overcome roadblocks, and get feedback from mentors and other teams.

Day two

With a shorter second day, participants have until 4pm to finalise and pitch their solution to the group. Each team will then showcase their solution with a 5-10 minute presentation, walking their colleagues through their idea, approach, the technology used, and the problem-solving impact of their creation.

A live Q&A session will follow presentations, to give the judges a deeper dive into each project.

The event will culminate with an awards ceremony to celebrate the Hackathon’s standout teams. Winners will be judged on innovation, impact, presentation, commitment, and customer focus. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams, followed by the opportunity to catch-up with colleagues over a few drinks.

The purpose of the Hackathon

Embodying Infigo’s commitment to fostering innovation, the Hackathon encourages collaboration and empowers creativity. With limited time and resources, participants will have the chance to push boundaries, build meaningful solutions, and develop new skills.

Infigo Head of Technical Operations, Denis Burlacu, said he was expecting the latest Hackathon to generate a high level of innovation. He said: “The upcoming Hackathon is a unique opportunity to turn creativity into impact, collaborate with brilliant minds, and showcase innovative solutions that could redefine the way we approach challenges – so, let’s make every idea count!”

This was a view shared by Infigo Managing Director, Alex Bowell, who said that the Hackathons provided a great social and team building experience, as well as creating the spark for some of the Infigo platform’s most ground-breaking features.

He said: “It’s a fun event, but one we take seriously because it gives our talented dev team the chance to be truly creative. Hackathons let them explore new technologies, experiment with innovative techniques, and push boundaries beyond our current solutions.

“We have an incredibly talented team, and there is always great excitement to see what they create! In fact, some of the coolest features in Infigo today were born from past Hackathons. So, stay tuned – amazing ideas are on the way!”
